I AM BACK FROM ITC!!! :D
say you miss me!
lols. okay. nvm.
i haven't touched the computer since i came back from camp.
so here goes:
---
ITC
actually this year's ITC isn't really tough considering we're sec 3s..
but i was really tired.
considering i slept at 3am the night before..
had to prepare u, complete the flag and do my other work.. ):
woke up lethargic the next day but still had to reach school early for dance. also had duty later on in the day. so i was rather tired out.
BUT! i will still strive to survive my last itc!
sad but determined!
---
day one.
since we came back late we didn't really have time to do much. we changed back into PT kit and sadly, peiwen left her shoebag in the washroom in a rush... but it ain't totally her fault. recouting the event, we really should have opened our eyes and look out for any leftovers.. adoi.. we can't even spot one big shoebag. -.-
think our squad should seriously be more alert. [: people! LET'S GROW BIGGER EYES! (: we must learn from this incident and never let history repeat itself alright. GOGOGO! :D
okay.. then we got allocated to our bunks. the first cleaning was good. at least there were not much surface dust except for the exit sign, the top of doors and speakers. (: m'am yini even praised us for the good job (:
after we were done with bunk cleaning, we changed into trackpants and got ready for the night trail at LABRADOR PARK! :D sounds fun right! we walked all the way there(yea. it ain't very far but it's considered a feat. I DONT CARE :D).
and so we happily trotted our way there. (: seems like qinhui is really an interesting article. :D so much so sergeant yanlin insisted on sticking to him. reason being? because he is very funny! lol.. gao xiao right? but we had fun on the way. we were the first group to go through the trail. clarine and i were at the front, junior leetheng and shannon were behind us and at the end were yingting and qinhui. hahas. clarine and i were thinking we walked too fast cos we heard yingting and she sounded so distant. so we thought of slowing down. in the end we realised it was the two juniors who were slow. HAHA! nvm. (: must take care of juniors. so we slowed down abit. (: and came to the knocking of the door. nothing much actually. we all knocked at left [: then from then on we had to follow the lightsticks. &&juniors were kinda scared. so i offered to hold their hands! (: so we held their hands.
the next station was walking without turning back. abit lame but ohwell. tht's the atmosphere. &then there were two umbrellas on the ground. -.- apparently to scare us i guess.. but the curious me turned my head around to see if anything was under the umbrellas. yea. there was nothing. ohwell~ [: at least curiosity didn't kill me :D
&&then there was this point of time where there were these two brightly lit trees with a minnie mouse dolly tied in the middle. was kinda freaked out initially since i didn't put on my specs and couldn't see clearly. plus it really looked freaky. hahas. then we had to count the bombshells. &somehow, we got them wrong. apparently we counted the wrong things and ended up with a great dicovery of 44bombshells. *TEHHH* wrong answer. LOLS
&&after the whole thing we laid in front of the sea and star gazed. hahas. staff debbra forbidded us from doing weird things. &&&we didn't expect lying down &star gazing to be considered weird. her reasoning being: we are lying in the middle of a pathway & that IS weird. hehehe..
nvm. [: we had fun.
afterwards we went back to camp, had supper, a short rest and then solo night. gosh. i really feared solo night. it wasn'tso intense until i saw them leaving one by one. ): i was the second last to be dropped off. &&&i landed up in the compartment enclosed by a gate. it happen to be near the st. john room and it leads to the slope. ohwell~ there were air-con compressers there && i stayed there for... erm... i don't rly rmb how long. hehe. but i didn't fall asleep. i was so disturbed by the repeated sound of some dropping/bouncing item. say i'm thinking too much.. but yea. i just hugged my legs and faced down all the way, periodically looking up. in the end i got so afraid that smth might appear if i lift my head up that i just closed my eyes tight throught. hehe..
at least it beats being in a dark toilet & sit facing the mirror right? o.O poor wenjie... gosh. i'ld freak out. seriously. eek! this goes to show that behind that cheeky facade, cheeky boy's rather brave deep down! :DDD good job squadmate!
day two.
first thing in the morning? PT!
YES! MY FAVOROUTE START OF AN ITC DAY!
i mean.. ohyea. we're all tired and all but hey.. PT is cool!
only thing was because it was combined PT, it was considered slack. the only thing i hated was the turning over&over again. which continued to hurt my tailbone. yea. not forgetting those fast sit-ups. though little but the speed is enough to break my already injured tailbone. )):
nevertheless, i endured through it! (: later on i had quite a few extremists commenting that my voice was rather prominent. eek~ i lost my voice in the end anyway. i don't mind losing my voice for PT! PTPTPTPTPT! <3!
then we had breakfast. superbly healthy beehoon! perfectly chewhwee style! tsktsk... less oil & a whole plot of veggie. gosh.. after which we had drill! 3hrs drill! cool right! &&&we acheived many solid bangs! :DDD plus our coordination though not flawless, but had improvement. (: tht's my greatest accomplishment in drill from the camp! totally WONDERFUL! :DD i love CIs &&their drill lesson! their method of teaching kinda works miracles on our squad. :DD cool man! during the session we also had rifle drill, polished up on some of the commands. drill lasted from 9-12 and when it ended, we were given 13minutes to change into PT kit. as usual, our squad isn't as disciplined as we should be. we always, ALWAYS, end up dragging time and we fell in uber late. so we were punished. given the same amount of time, we were made to change back into full uniform. we actually made it. o.O kinda wonder why we always need a form of punishment before we do the right things. but we got encouraged by m'am for that. [: so as usual, we were given back that same amount of time to change back into PT kit. even with a short briefing from staff xinyue, we managed to make it. m'am was uber impressed. (: that kinda lifted my spirits too.. xD afterall, we did it! xD
we had field cooking for lunch! yueting and i practically chose to eat some fast and filling stuff. i started off with the biscuits and yueting opened the pineapple can. felt a weee bit retarded but hey... that's the survival spirit.. xP a few packets of rice were offered to us just as we were about to finish. &&we had to finish them all. was rather shocked to speak the truth.. but we still managed to gobble one down. (:
next up was ROPE OBSTACLES!!! :DDD
had tremendous fun since it's supposed to be a recreational activity kinda thing. xD however i was sweating like i had a tap on somewhere. totally dehydrating. even as i really felt unwell, sharmie didn't fall out! :D because she believes that she would be able to perserver through this! DEFINITELY! :DDD As usual, the rope obstacles were rather standard but i still couldn't conquer the vertical climb.. ): gosh. i wna go train!! xP
after rope obstacles we had orienteering lesson by sir raymond. after recapping on the basics of field bearings, we went out for a short practical. we were supposed to lead the officers to our selected checkpoint using the knowledge we have for taking bearings and pacing. we apparently underestimated m'am's average footstep and the readings ended up all wrong. it was comforting to at least know that our readings of the bearings were rather accurate. after all, it was only our first attempt. ((:
following our interesting orienteering lesson was recreation! something we had all been anticipating since the start of the camp! We started off with this human twine game. we had to hold hands with the ones next to you and this continued throughout all the cadets till a piece of human 'twine' was formed. we started of by rolling into a ball of twine. that wasn't a main point but it was rather fun turing around and around. :DDD using this piece of twine, we had to form a few knots and take pictures of the great big human knot! (: though we kept hiding our faces! xD the next game we played was "blow wind blow". quite a classic game but i was lucky to not become a victim. gosh. their forfeit was tragically humourous! xP looks rather fun but doing it in front of so many people makes it so embarrassing&humiliating.. i really wonder why guofeng did it as though he was dancing. LOL! totally entertaining&comical. we didn't get to play water games since mr. chua kah sheng decided not to approve it claiming that it was a waste of water. -.- gosh.. it's not like we do it everyday la huh ._. totally dudiao.. but i would have appreciated the recrea more if thr were more active games :D sharmie's the hyper type rmb? xP
&&then we had wonderful dinner.! i finished everything! :D was supposedly arranged to do bunk cleaning too.. but because we were so afraid we would go up there during candlelight night and throw rvnp's face, we attempted to use the time to do a bit of practise. sadly, we neglected our bunk's cleaniness and disappointed m'am. ncos could even collect balls of dust but this was kinda unfair since they wen't to dig the places that weren't emphasized yesterday. futhermore, it was from the groove of the techer's table. i mean.. we wouldn't even go near that.. our state of room cleanliness made m'am yini veryvery angry. the second chance we were given was fully made use of and things turned out quite alright.. (:
at candlelight night, we were all very amused at what the other UG groups were presenting. i personally feel that NCC Charlie07 did well for the dance. (: good job fran, janice, jiayi and co.! &&i think we did pretty well up there since our squadmates below and backstage said it was nice! :D NCOs liked it too. :DD SEXYBACK; YEA! xP &&it was tht wee bit weird to hear the ncos cheering, saying they loved us just before we went on stage. xP i seriously think the dance is cool now! :P we kinda got ultra high during the community singing but the mood was brought down once again by us leaving early. but it's okay.. we're used to it. &&we were pumped for our lousy barrack cleanliness.. ): the guys did 50 and the girls 30...
the girls lost the chance to wash up because we were getting punished and reprimanded in the barrack so we had to sacrifice some big portion of our supper to go clean up.. really have to thank the male squadmates who had the initiative to help us collect our supper.. thankyou squadmates.. we were pretty touched (:
after beautiful supper we had some rest. woke up in the middle of the night for sentry duty. was pretty much like zombies up from graves and walking around aimlessly. we were all rather emotionless. our nice ncos decided to allow us back early for rest. very nice right? :D but we were too lethargic to feel joy. hehe..
day three.
MORNING PT!!! wonderful way of starting the day! :D we ran TWELVE rounds around that fantastically boring school track alright..but it ain't boring no more when i'm conquering it with my wonderful squadmates! :DDD my legs started to hurt after one round thanks to those small and slow steps. ): pretty much wanted to fall out but i endured because what i saw was my pretty squadmates with me. oh boy it was such an encouraging sight! (: i especially loved the last round where we got our flags back and could run with it soaring above us! i felt so accomplished! :DDDDD running with my squadmates has been great joy, so much so it overwrites the toughness! (:
after morning PT we had breakfast! we all thought that was the BEST meal we had throughout the camp! :DD i even had 11/2 servings. i feel piggish for doing that :/ but ohwell.. i'm supposed to hyper throughout the rest of the camp alright.. so yes! i need food! xP
we had nco modular course part1 next. were imparted all the soft skills but i have to admit that i was uncontrollably dozing off at some points in time.. hehe.. sorry m'ams.. &&mdm chia gave us a very inspiring speech about how our CIs felt so bad for inducing corporal punishment on us.. but after hearing what she said, i don't see why we shouldn't respect them more. i don't see the difficulty.. our CIs are great people. (: very brave and honest people that we are so proud of. (:
now we know. OC's word is gold. undefiable. [:
after all of that, we broke camp! finally! after 2days of intensive lethargy! we had mass lunch at JEC after that and went home. (: but with all of that barang-barang it got really annoying..
I SERIOUSLY LOVE THE EXTREMISTS MORE AFTER THIS! :D
RVNPS307! :DDDD such a pretty tag!
---
overall i should really say that our squad's attitude wasn't good since we lacked sense of urgency. discipline-wise wasn't superb either(we improved but it just wasn't enough).
considering that we are the sec3 squad, we gotta work real hard to deserve NCOship.. really. like CIs said, we've got the hard skills. we just lack attitude and all. we had several mistakes pointed out which weren't supposed to even be in the dictionary of excecutable mistakes of a sec3.
we have wonderful CIs who play their part in moulding us into better cadets, imparting us with skills that will hopefully be of use even in the future. guess we really have to put in more effort to learn and execute them.
however, i think we displayed better endurance this time round. (:
12rounds without casualty is no chicken feat. go try that with 20-odd random peeps yourself. especially when you don't get to walk. haha. my squad rocks! TOTALLY.
&&our drill improved rapidly in that few hours of drill! although i seriously think it was the magic of the CIs' presence, but anyway, we improved! (: it was a fact the eyes of everyone shared! :DD
through this ITC, i undoubtfully will grow to respect our CIs more because it was through their spirit that i saw what true passionate leadership was. (: i am so delighted to have such dedicated CIs in the unit and i believe im not the only one who thinks this way. (: through the last activity we had in the camp, i think tht looking at things from diferent perspectives is important. we have to grow up and learn to see two sides of the coin. gaining new insight is even more enriching then you really think it is. (: let's do this together squadmates! :DDD
i believe, together, the extremists can do a better job. because our previous ncos ever said we have the potential. we had, and we'll always have! let's all go for it!
RVNPS307! BOOMBABOOMBABA! :D
squeaked.
